Distance

So, I've been thinking about this habit I have of meeting amazing people who live really far away; it's a really  annoying habit actually... :( being far away I mean. I suppose that's the trade-off.
Anyway, while I was thinking about this predicament I wrote this:

Distance

you spin in place on top of your mountain
looking over the horizons
peering over mountain, marsh and fen
past plains forests and rivers

over gleaming cities and darkened slums
calm small towns and violent ghettos
past busy, bustling towers the scrape the sky
and quiet, peaceful cabins, home to nearly none

under the blazing, glorious sun
gleaming moon and sparkling stars
through clouds that frame the heavens
made of millions of water droplets

beyond all this and maybe more
you'll see other mountains
and on top of each one is someone you love
looking back at you
